Wine Pairing with Popcorn | #NationalPopcornDay

I never really been much of a wine drinker, except for when it comes to making sangiras. My friend and I decided to have a weekend dedicated to binging Netflix. Normally when we do that we get a lot of junk food, however we’re trying to lose weight. So when I grabbed a few bags of SkinnyPop for wine pairing with popcorn.

Creating the Perfect Sangria Recipe

Choose Your Wine:

A white wine sangria gives you many options to choose from and it’s hard to choose a wine that doesn’t work. A few of the favorite styles for this recipe include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Albarino, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, and Pinot Gris.

I went with a white wine, a dry, crisp, and unoaked wine. Most sangrias get their sweetness and full-flavor from fruit or additional sugar, so a wine on the drier side. Some particular types to look for: Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Vinho Verde.

Choose Your Fruit:

The citrus fruits included in the recipe are essential to creating a basic sangria. However, you can add to the flavor with any of variety of fruits. Normally whatever fruit is in season when you’re making it will work. Whatever you choose, you only need roughly 2 cups total of whatever fruit you picked. This time we just went with a small red apples, mandarins oranges, and a few cranberries. Next time we’re gonna try a mix of other fruits.

Choose Your Soda or Juice:

Something as simple as adding soda will change the taste of the drink. Club soda produces a clean tasting sparkle while ginger ale is a nice option when you want to add a little sweetness. I’m cutting soda from my diet, so I with some apple cider instead of soda as a whole.

Choose Your Booze:

Made a small amount of liquor along with the wine. You can also pour a shot of brandy, gin or rum into your sangria. Fruit flavored vodka like pear or strawberry would be ideal. We picked a peach Smirnoff, it was enough to give it that extra flavor.

If sangrias are not much of your thing here are some other wine options paired with SkinnyPop different flavors.

When grabbed the pepperjack & original flavors of SkinnyPop. It’s officially my favorite kind of popcorn now, I told her we’re taking this to the movies from now on, because we need healthier snack options as a whole. It’s been hard trying to cut out most of the sweet snacks and sodas.

SkinnyPop starts with a premium popcorn kernel, sunflower oil and the perfect amount of salt. From there, Pure Popped Perfection says it all. Our popcorn has no GMOs, gluten or preservatives, making SkinnyPop a tasty, guilt-free snack.
