6 Bar Crawl Survival Tips You’ll Be Thankful For

May. 12, 2018 / Life

Have you ever gone on a bar crawl? Let me share some bar crawl survival tips with you that will make your night more memorable.

A few months ago for St Patrick’s Day, I did a bar crawl in Chapel Hill, NC and it was amazing! I had a total blast. We had a small group of roughly 20 people, we went to 7 bars and it was a total blast. I met some really amazing people out of it as well. Then I went again for Cinco De Mayo in Raleigh, NC. This one was HUGE. There was two groups and roughly 100-150 people in each group, it was INSANE.

Have A Drinking Buddy

I mean, while it’s fun drinking alone and making new friends, it’s always nice to have a friend when going bar to bar. Make sure you pick someone who isn’t a light weight or who is going to be the DD. Both times I went, I went with friends, so that made things easier. Don’t wonder off with strangers, stranger danger is still a thing.

Pace Yourself

This isn’t a race to see who can get drunk first, this is about having fun and making it to the end without putting yourself into the hospital. If you have 1-2 drinks per bar, more if you like. Honestly, how much you drink is up to you. I don’t drink to get drunk, I drink to get enough buzz to let down my guard and dance without thinking people are watching me.

Drink Water & Eat Something

STAY HYDRATED! Don’t drink on an empty stomach, this is me sharing a life lesson, I learned the hard way. If you eat something roughly a hour before starting your bar crawl. Then eating half-way through the bar crawl, nothing heavy, something salty like fries. Then once more after the bar crawl. This way you have something to suck up all that extra alcohol you have in your system. This way, you won’t feel like death the next day. Depending on how many bars you go to throughout your bar crawl, getting 1 cup of water at each bar is a really smart idea.

Enjoy Yourself

Have a blast! Make new friends, dance your pants off (not really, please keep your pants on) and have the night of your life. The Cinco de Mayo crawl each bar had different kinds of music, the one bar played a lot of Backstreet Boys (I’m more of an Nsync fan, but still awesome). Take lots of pictures, that’s something I did more the 2nd time than the last time. I regret that, but none the less, wouldn’t take it back for nothing.

Take A Bag & Pack Light

Take a purse, I took a draw string bag with me both times. I packed light, I didn’t have a lot of stuff in the bag. If the bar crawl is anything like the last two I went on, they were always giving away prizes of all sizes. Also, I made sure to have a portable charger, deodorant (it will get sweaty), ID card and money (it’s easier to have cash than card, but whatever is easiest).

Have An End Game

How are you getting home? Do you have a DD? Are you getting a Lyft? Download Lyft and save $5 on your next ride. You need to know what you’re doing before you get too white girl wasted. Stranger Danger, don’t forget and lastly, don’t drink and drive, don’t be stupid!

You can simple google, “bar crawls” to find local bar crawls near you or you can check out BarCrawls.com for more!

I have never really been a bar kind of girl, I grew up in one though. I do enjoy a fun night and being prepared, these tips make me think I may try a bar crawl sometime. Be safe and enjoy! 🙂

I have never been to a bar crawl, but you gave really good advice for people who do this kind of fun. Drinking, as long as it is in moderation is okay. I will ask my friends if they would be interested in doing a bar crawl. It is going to be a little fun for the old ladies. 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve done a bar crawl. It was fun, as long as I stayed hydrated and took a break to eat. I would also say pace yourself. Just because you can drink a lot doesn’t mean you have to do so.

I haven’t been on a bar crawl in years! I think car services are a great thing to use.
