The truth about blogging, here are 5 things bloggers dont tell you. Everyone and their mama has a blog post titled, “How to Start a Blog..” “5 Easy Ways to Start a Blog…” We all have seen them, they’re everywhere.

I’ve been blogging since 2008, so that would be almost 10 years now, which is kinda crazy. I’ve had my WordPress since 2010, I’ve learned a lot of stuff over the years, but more over the last few years. It seems like these days, that everyone and their mama has a blog.

“Make a blog, they said. It will be fun, they said. “

It’s like the diet pills, videos and mean plans that promise you abs in 5 weeks. There’s more to it then just what’s in bold font. You have to get into the details before you just jump in feet first. You can’t start a blog on Monday and have 100,000 monthly views by Friday and companies just throwing themselves at you. There’s a lot of sweat and tears that goes into blogging. Here’s what I’ve learned over the years, I am going to share it with you, because no one else will.

4 Things Bloggers Don’t Tell You:

Blogging isn’t for everyone

I’ve been blogging here and there for over 10 years, so I’ve seen my share of bloggers big and small. Now if I just stuck with it, that’s my only regret. Bloggers also come in all sizes, from different backgrounds and different niches. Some are successful and some well aren’t as much. It’s more of a trial and error type of thing.

Followers & Monthly Views Growth

I can’t begin to tell you the amount of posts I see that say, “I just made a blog, when do I get followers and views?” If I had $ for every time I saw that, I would be rich and wouldn’t have to slave away to this blog. I started this blog (even though the name has changed 3 times, I know that’s another blog post) and I have roughly 50,000 followers across all social media platforms. It didn’t happen over night, it takes time.

It’s not as EASY as they say

Nope, it’s not easy, but if you stay dedicated it will be worth it. Everyone wants to make a “How To Start A Blog” post screenshots of how to host a site, throw out their affiliate link and tell you where you can get a layout design that will cost you an arm and leg. Then you basically just get thrown out into the wolves and you have to figure it out for yourself.

Find A Blog Support Group

Luckily there’s quite a lot Facebook support groups to help you along the way. You really have to look for what groups fit for what you’re looking for. They honestly have groups for each social platforms and your actual blog. Do you have a favorite group? link it below, I’ll love to check it out.
