Start Your Day with Quaker Steel Cut & Protein 10!

Start Your Day with Quaker Steel Cut & Protein 10!

Being a mom of four crazy kids who are always on the go, having a simple fast breakfast yet it still being healthy can be frustrating. So that’s when I normally turn to Quaker. When we got a box of Steel Cut Blueberries & Cranberries and a Protein 10 Cranberries & Almonds, I knew the kids were gonna be excited for breakfast. When we’re not in a rush, I like to throw some fresh fruits or honey into my oatmeal for some extra yummies and it’s nice to get all those healthy foods in within one meal. Quaker oatmeal is a good source of calcium, iron and 6 other essential vitamins and minerals.

Quaker has always been my go to brand for oatmeal, the favors are always amazing and there’s so many flavors to pick from. So we went to our local store, which is really only one store when it comes to living in Orange, lol. We have ONE store, a food lion, now there’s a few other stores, but the one food lion is the only “grocery” store. Anyhow, I love to hit up Food Lion when they have their Quaker products 2 for $4.

BzzAgent provided us with a box of Steel Cut Blueberries & Cranberries and a Protein 10 Cranberries & Almonds. Between the two, we all enjoyed the Protein 10 more. The Steel Cut was so processed you couldn’t tell it was even oatmeal. I like my oatmeal to actually you know, look like OATS, lol. That are steel cut to give the oatmeal a heartier texture and nuttier taste that comes in Blueberries & Cranberries and Brown Sugar & Cinnamon. The flavor just wasn’t there for me and the dried blueberries and cranberries was like eating rocks. I don’t know about you, but I can’t eat rocks. So that was a bust.

However the Protein 10 cranberries & almonds was out of this world. The flavor was amazing, for how much protein was in it, it didn’t taste healthy, it tasted simply delicious! Which makes me want to eat more! The kids aren’t even fans of almonds or cranberries and they were left wanting more. So I like to say that’s a win in my book. They also have a banana nut in the protein 10, it was average, but of the two, I found more flavor in the cranberries & almonds.

They say 1 packet is enough for one serving, but I’ve always done 1 packet for the younger two, the older two eat 2 packets, I sometimes do 3 packets, lol. The older two normally have a bowl of Quaker oatmeal before school everyday. Knowing that my kids have a healthy breakfast which keeps them full until lunch time, makes for one happy mama!

If you have the boxed.com app on your phone or order from the computer, that’s how I shop from there. Here’s their current deals on boxed! Make sure you have your ebates button installed and you get a 2.0% cash back! Use P532A to get $10 discount on your first box!

Have you tried Quaker steel cut & protein 10?

I have tried both of these new kinds and really like the Protein…Cranberry Almond. I wasn’t a big fan of the steel cut, but that is probably just me!

We’ve made steel cut oats the old fashioned way, (soaked overnight to shorten the cook time) and they’re fantastic. I love that Quaker is coming up with more healthy breakfast options :). Thanks for sharing!

We love steel cut oats here at home although it takes a little longer to cook than the rolled out ones. We haven’t tried this instant ones though.

I haven’t tried either of these! I go through oatmeal phases where I eat it like 4 days a week for a few months and then I get sick of it. I always buy Quaker Oats though, so I’m sure I’ll try the cranberry almond soon 🙂

I usually make my own oatmeal, usually overnight oats. I never think to buy flavoured oats because I add the flavour myself. These do sound like great flavour combos though 😉

Really beautiful photos, Natalie! That Cranberry Almond Oatmeal sounds soooo yummy! The way you described it as “not tasting healthy” makes me want it even more. I hate that healthy taste. I laughed when you said “I don’t know about you, but I cant eat rocks” hahaha. Love the honesty. Great post!

I’ve been seeing steel cut oats pop up more and more in recipes and products. I haven’t had a chance to try these yet. I’m a huge fan of protein, so I wouldn’t mind trying that Cranberry Almond selection.

Reading this post was perfect timing for me. My husband and I are about to take off on a 5-month road trip in our (small) RV. I’ve been brainstorming quick and easy (yet nutritious) breakfast ideas and I think this is a real winner!

I love oatmeal. It’s just that I rarely find steel cut oats here so I use rolled oats. I hope this makes it to our supermarket.
