Can we talk about how listening to Hillsong Worship on YouTube or Spotify is one thing. But actually being there in person, is a whole new level. To be able to praise God in a place where I got to celebrate how amazing God is with other Christians, things like that are simply life changing. I was able to get tickets from Family Christian. So I brought my friend Nic. We left super early on a Monday.. Our goal was to make it to GA early enough that we can go check out Atlanta first, then take the hour drive to Gainesville, GA.
After we finally got to the Free Chapel in Gainesville, GA. There was a huge line, when we finally got to the front, I noticed it said our tickets would be at Will Call. So that 2 hours we just wasted standing in line, we could of got in early enough to actually get a good seat. Which we were bummed, but none the less, didn’t mind. We had pretty good seats up in the back. Honestly you could feel Jesus in the room, it was an amazing feeling.
They played the following songs… Alive, Forever Reign, Touch the Sky, All I Need is You, Mighty to Save, O Praise The Name (Anástasis), Heart Like Heaven, Even When It Hurts, No Other Name, Open Heaven / River Wild (NEW SONG), Oceans (Where Feet May Fail), Cornerstone, With Everything, Relentless, & Wake. I was really hoping they would sing “The Stand”, that’s one of my favorite songs by Hillsong. But when they sun Oceans, oh man, that was amazing! I have it on video, I gotta see if I can find it. My friend, Nic I went with, he has some videos, I need to upload and share!
“Savior, He can move the mountain
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to Save
Forever, Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave”
– Mighty to Save (Hillsong)
In the middle of all the songs, Brian (who might I add, his Aussie accent, he sounds like the shark [Bruce] from Finding Nemo, no joke — In my head I can hear him say, “Fish are friends, not food” haha) walked out and gave us a short sermon about Happiness. Why is it whenever you’re going through a struggle. sermons like this fall into your life to point you into the right direction! Seriously? What’s the odds he was going to talk about Depression & Happiness? RIGHT!?!?! I needed to hear it. I was trying to fight back the tears honestly, I was so vulnerable there. Everyone who went to the event got a copy of Brian’s book. Which is AMAZING!
Be happy with those who are happy and weep with those who are weeping. Focusing on other people’s happiness is a way to make your depression better, putting faith into other people. Live inside out instead of outside in.. Never under estimate the power of worship on the inside.. A few chapters he went over were Ecclesiastes 5:11, Romans 12:15, Psalms 89:15, Habakkuk 3:17-18, 1 Peter 3:10-11.
“Surround yourself with positive people, surround yourself with happiness.” – Psalm 142:6
I want to give a huge shoutout to Family Christian Bloggers for giving me the opportunity to go to this event. It was the life changing message I needed to remind myself that everything happens for a reason and I need Jesus in my life to make it through. That God has a plan for me and I can’t make it without him. I suggest if you ever get the chance to see Hillsong Live, DO IT! It will be the best decision you ever make! Life Changing! I can’t wait to see them again!!
