Are you looking for a last minute patriotic treats for the 4th of July party? You’re in luck, these Red White and Blue Jell-o Cups are the easiest yummy treat that will be the hit of the party. They’re super easy to make and honestly you can make them any size for the size of the party.
These are perfect for kids or adults, if you’re going to be at an adult 4th of July party, you can also toss in some alcohol for fun! You can never go wrong with a little vodka or rum. I can’t do jello shots like I once could in my 20s, haha.
What you need:
- 2 boxes of Red Jello (I used Strawberry)
- 2 boxes of Blue Jello (I used Berry Blue)
- 1 8oz tub of CoolWhip
- 9 oz plastic cups
serves: 8 cups | prep time : 10 minutes | chill time: 2 hours
TIP: Place the cups into a muffin pan when chilling in the fridge, it keeps them together and they fit perfectly.
Directions:
- Boil 2 cup of water and add red jell-o, then add 2 cups of cold water.
- Stir for 1 minute and let it dissolve and let cool for 1 minute.
- Pour red jell-o into 8 cups and place in refrigerator for 1 hour.
- I added a 1/2 inch of whipped cream on top of the red jell-o. Then popped it into the freezer for 20 minutes.
- Boil 2 cups water and add blue jell-o and then add 2 cups of cold water.
- Stir for 1 minute and let it dissolve and let cool for 1 minute.
- Add the blue jell-o to the cups and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
I made these yesterday and they’re already gone. I think the next time I make them, I’ll use smaller cups, so they actually last longer. For extra flavor you can use fresh fruit like strawberries and blueberries. There’s also people who make the white layer milk and gelatin together, that sounded weird to me and I’m not a huge milk person either, but honestly that part is up to you. These are a hit and I plan on making more for 4th of July this year. The cool things about this fun Red White and Blue Jell-o Cups is the fact you can use it for any holiday. So you can use different flavors and make it amazing each time.
I’ve never thought of making jello cups for 4th of July. That’s a genius idea! It’s the perfect treat to cool down.
My kids would love these. Truth be told, so would I! I may need to go get some jell-o for this for tomorrow!
I remember we used to make something similar to these jell-o cups in elementary school. I used to eat all the whipped cream out lol. I’d love to make and adult version with rum. Happy 4th!
I’ve done it with alcohol plenty of times. It’s SOOOOOOOOOO good, but this one was for kids haha

These are so festive and perfect for July 4th! I love making Jello as it’s one of the few treats this allergy-girl can actually eat. Perfect use of the muffin tray for setting by the way.
