10+ Pretty Epic Places To Visit While In Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville, Kentucky is largest city, sits on the Ohio River along the Indiana border. Every May, its race course Churchill Downs hosts the Kentucky Derby, a renowned horse race whose long history is explored at the Kentucky Derby Museum. Baseball is celebrated at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, where Major League bats are produced and a giant baseball “slugger” marks the entrance.

Closer to the end of the trip, we thought walking across the bridges would be pretty sweet, so we did! We walked across the one bridge that touches Kentucky & Indiana, so that was pretty awesome. Made out for some amazing sunset pictures on a bridge. Now my favorite way to get sunset pictures for sure.

Louisville is one of those cities, that it doesn’t matter what you’re in to, there’s something for everyone. My friend, Krissy and I took a random trip to Louisville to visit her uncle. Which was a “I need to get away for the weekend, I just got fired, before I get my life together” kinda last minute choice and it was a good one. Sometimes you just need to get away for a moment, what’s better than a 8 hour trip to a whole different state?

Fun fact, we went to The Troll pub under the bridge, there was these little passport books. Each place you stopped in around Louisville, they stamp the book, after so many stamps, you stop by the Welcome Visitor Center and you got a freebie! Which was pretty cool. Before you go anywhere, you should totally check out the Welcome Center, they have a lot of awesome booklets, great information.

To really see ALL of Downtown Louisville, you need like a few weeks, because there’s so much to do when it comes to things to see, things to eat & things to do. We only got to see a few of those things. Goals one year will be to spend a few months there, most likely over Summer break.

Places to Eat in Louisville, Kentucky

The Troll Pub Under The Bridge

Let’s take a minute and talk about how AMAZING this food is. I got the beer cheese burger on a pretzel roll and it was to die for. Their fries are amazing as well, they call them troll fries. Before you walk into this Troll Pub, there’s this huge troll outside – you must take a selfie with, because why not? If you send your picture to their website, they also put it on their website.

8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen

Legit this restaurant is on the roof of a hotel!? Yea it was pretty awesome. We ended up there on pure accident, we were using the hotel’s bathroom and her uncle was like, “oh let’s go check this place out…” We get to the roof and a waitress came out and asked us if we wanted a drink, who could say no to that view? We sat down at one place, then ended up moving to these awesome couches that had a built-in fire pits which was totally awesome. While we’re chilling on this roof, what flies over our head? Trump on Air Force One, that’s the closest I’ve ever been, kinda cool.
