I thought being a stay at home mom and taking care of the blog was tough. Trying working a full-time job outside the house, being a single mom and taking care of this blog is like 3 full-time jobs. Crazy right? I work normally second shift at McDonald’s, on those days I normally eat at work. Eating healthy while working in fast food is hard to do, here’s 4 Healthy Choices While Working A Full-Time Job with Lean Pockets!
#1 Drinks LOTS of Water!
Working in the hot kitchen, when the AC rarely ever works. Even when it does, it’s forever hot in there. Staying hydrated is hard to do, always keep liquids in you. I cut out sodas a year or so ago, so I normally drink water. If I want something different, I get a smoothie or sweet tea, but mostly water.
#2 Get Enough Sleep.
May sound silly, but if you don’t get enough sleep – it really drags out a shift. Depending on how the day goes, who you work with, etc etc. Sleep is your best friend.
#3 – Buy New Shoes Every 4-6 Months
When you’re on your feet eight to eleven hours a day, you start to wear your shoes out. Getting some supports to wear in your shoes are great too. They have to be slip resistant shoes are a must in the slippery floors of the kitchen. But I already have feet problems, but I have to work. So by the end of the shift, my feet want to fall off or are on fire. haha
#4 – Bring Your Own Healthy Food From Home
When I went to the local Food Lion, they only had white meat chicken jalapeno & cheese and white meat chicken broccoli & cheese. The roasted turkey bacon & cheese sounded really good, but they were all out of those, so maybe next time I run to the store. They were on this sweet deal for 2/$4. When we were ringing them up – a coupon printed “buy 4, get 1 free” winner winner, chicken dinner.
Let’s face it once you start working at a fast food joint, the food gets old fast. Honestly it’s the easiest way to kick a junk food habit, lol. I’ve lost 15 pounds since getting a job there. It may also be because of a certain app where I have to catch them all, haha.
Gotta love that whole grain crust. Chicken, Broccoli, & Cheddar cheese & sauce with a whole grain crust. It’s so tasty, I took one box one night and the two hot pockets lasted two days and have a side of mixed fruit too. You put two on 3:30 and they were cooked perfect! They’re also 250 calories each. Chicken, Jalapeño, & Cheese, with red peppers & reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, with sauce in pretzel bread. Out of them two, this was my favorite, it was just hot enough, but not too spicy.
Secretly everything I think of Hot Pockets or Lean Pockets, I think of Jim Gaffney’s “hoooooooot pocketsss” haha. What ways do you like to make healthy choices while at work?
What is your favorite flavor of Lean Pockets?
Check out your local supermarket with this $1 off of 3 boxes of Lean Pockets!
Wow, that’s quite a schedule! I worked at Mc Donalds one summer when I was in HS and I still remember how they work you HARD! Now I have a full time and a part time job. I’m lucky that my FT is usually laid back and I have lots of down time to myself on the clock. But on days where I work both jobs it’s hard to eat right and I stop at McD’s or Wendys more often than I should, LOL! I think I’ll get some Lean Pockets. Don’t forget about fruits and veggies too!
I will definitely have to try these. Thank you for sharing your review.
I was leery about Lean Pockets when I first tried them but they honestly take just like the regular ones! So yummy
These are great tips for working moms. I love Lean Pockets!
Lean Pockets are so handy! My favorite flavor is Roasted Turkey, Bacon and Cheese!
I like all of the four tips. I especially like Hot-Pockets. I entertain having one while watching TV.
My kids love Lean Pockets.
I’m retired so don’t have to take lunch to work. If I did these would be handy
These are great tips. Especially the sleep otherwise you drink too much sugar, coffee, and eat snacks!
Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m looking to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a tough time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
I love Hot Pockets, so Lean Pockets is a welcome must for me because I am watching weight. I appreciate the great review, as I am looking for these at the store today.
There are many flavors to choose from. Enough that I don’t tire of eating them. Especially nice when there isn’t alot of time to cook or for a snack.
